US Army visit Wilco EMS & Fire Science programs

Today, the US Army, Sergeant Hamel and Sergeant Anderson visited the EMS & Fire Science programs at Wilco Area Career Center to talk to students about the many options available in the military.  Sergeant Hamel and Sergeant Anderson shared how they respond to medical emergencies as a first responder; take action to stabilize victims, stop bleeding, and splint fractures, perform Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), and perform emergency physical assessment and place on backboards. Perform maintenance, operational, housekeeping, emergency and standby duties. Operates alarm room equipment including radio and fire reporting. Conduct fire protection and prevention inspections; prepare reports of unsafe conditions and conducts follow-up inspections to ensure satisfactory corrections. Respond to fire alarms for all classes of fires, including those involving radioactive and/or hazardous materials, fuels and chemicals, explosives, gases and toxins, and medical emergencies.
